Under stage 1, 9 trains will be used in operations. For stage 2, a further 20 trains will be available, bringing the total to 29. At stage 3, there will be 24 trains delivered, for a total of 53 trains during the initial stages of the TSL operation. As the TSL and ERL are expected to operate as a single line, a further 38 trains will be procured, bringing the total number of trains to 91.

Currently, the consortium is busy delivering 13 new trains for the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL) and have a further order of 28 trains by 2016 for the Tuas West Extension programme. The interior of the TSL and ERL Kawasaki trains will resemble that of the current batch of trains being added to the NSEWL. Additional features that will be found on the TSL and ERL Kawasaki trains are the perch-seats introduced on the Downtown Line Bombardier trains. There will be few two-seat combination seating areas, located near the cab-ends of the train at the front and back, just like the Downtown Line Movia trains.

Indicative make up of the Kawasaki trains.
