January Tunnel Progress

Contract T202
Excavation of the Changi-bound tunnel is advancing at a slow pace and 2 cutterhead interventions have been performed since the launch of the TBM back in December. It's sister TBM is slated to commence mining on the Woodlands-bound tunnel by the end of this month.

Contract T206
Excavation of the first EPB machine at LS1 has commenced. The second EPB machine commenced mining at SBAB on the Woodlands Bound tunnel to Woodlands South. The third EPB machine is in the midst of assembly and should commence excavation on the Changi Bound tunnel by February.

The 2 slurry TBMs are progressing. S-893 is now beneath Champions Way and advancing into the Innova JC premise.

Contract T208
Excavation of the Changi-bound tunnel is advancing at an incredibly quick pace. The machine has been maintaining an advance of close to 10m/day over the last several weeks. Breakthrough is anticipated around April if the TBM continues churning through favorable soil.

TBM A has begun to pick up pace after being hindered by the problematic ground for nearly 3 months.

TEL3 Tunnel Chart, January 2016

S-936 Assembly


Assembly works for Herrenknecht's third slurry TBM for the Thomson Line project was carried out at the T215 Mount Pleasant site earlier this month. The 782m-long drive for the Changi-bound tunnel towards Caldecott is anticipated to experience mixed-soil, and a small portion of rock along the tunnel route.
