Herrenknecht TBM - Factory Acceptance

The third Herrenknecht Mix-shield tunnel boring machine for the Thomson Line, which had been ordered by Sinohydro under the T217 project, have just successfully passed its factory acceptance test at the assembly factory in China. The TBM is expected to arrive in Singapore by the third quarter of this year.

The machine will execute 2 drives for the completion of the twin bored tunnels between Napier and Orchard Boulevard stations, with the lower Woodlands Bound tunnel to be driven first. Upon docking at OBV, the TBM will be dismantled within the tunnel and relaunched at Napier within a new shield for the excavation of the Changi Bound tunnel.
